about us

Camp Hart, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, was founded as a residential summer camp in Williamstown, Massachusetts on property owned by Dr. Hart and his family.

Camp Hart operations have  been  centered  at our  location  in Williamstown on 200 acres in the beautiful Berkshire Mountains. The property has  accommodations  for  campers and staff, and land for a variety of outdoor  recreational activities. Camp Hart is situated next to an 18-hole championship gold course.

In the early years, it was one of the few residential summer camps available to minority youth, and its scenic location near the mountains provided a welcome respite from urban life. With its outstanding program of outdoor recreational activities and youth development, Camp Hart had a fine reputation for serving youth and a loyal following.

Inspired by the outstanding success of Tiger Woods in professional golf, Camp Hart in 1997 initiated our Junior Golf Clinics with the purpose of introducing the game of golf to greater numbers of minority and economically disadvantaged youth in urban areas. Historically, these youth have not been exposed to the game due to lack of access to golf facilities, equipment or instruction. Camp Hart provides urban youth with all the necessary recourses and professional instruction to learn the game of golf in an enjoyable environment with their peers.

Events such as the 2016 Golf Challenge Classic are unique programs that recognize the importance of exposing youth  not  only to the  game  of  golf but also to other important learning experiences as well. Our clinic and tournament will offer  the  chance to enjoy  a character-building experience  in a dynamic setting. The challenge  and  accomplishment  in  learning  the  game of  golf help  youth  develop discipline, confidence  and  character.
